It’s in good shape with light wear from storage and handling.Ĭheck out the picture(s) so you know what you’re getting - they are the best indication of the condition of the product. This looks to be an older kit by them and it may be missing some components. These were kits made originally by now known as Indianapolis ordnance. You are considering a Sten MKIII Semi-Auto Build Kit. It works as it is, but I know with time is going to ruin the hammer spring.Description Sten MKIII Semi-Auto Build Kit With a semi circle clearance for the spring. I figured that's what it was I'll just make a new sear that follows the centerline of the tube. They call their bolt kits hammer fired as well. IO calls it a hammer, and hammer spring in all references and diagrams. The milled one is not a good match for the indy ord kit, as the sears bolt catch is offset. It's a striker fired system, and that part is the striker itself which hits the firing pin after being released by the sear.īut no, I have no spring binding issues. I'm pretty sure my problem is I have a milled sear not the stamped which would clear due to the two sear prongs straddling either side of the spring/guide rod.Īctually, it is not a hammer. There are two springs, the recoil spring at the twelve o'clock position and the hammer spring at the six o'clock position.

The IO bolt kit is hammer fired and the original sten sear acts as the hammer catch at the back of the stroke. Unless I totally missed something, this gun has no hammer.and a model built with a hammer wouldn't have the STEN sear. One more question, does your sear rub the hammer spring? I'm going to give BRP a call for a MK2 mag housing and I'll be well on my way. Since I last posted I was able to pick up a MK2 barrel and nut. The selector MUST be welded in semi though, and when you cut your tube the disconnector slot MUST be only wide enough for the disconnector to stick up into the tube, and not travel to the FA position. This notch prevents the disconnector from being able to move via selector switch even if the weld on the selector switch wasent in place. The barrel will be the hard/expensive part to get.Īs far as semi-trigger mods, basically the selector switch is just welded in the semi-auto mode, and there is a corresponding notch in the indy ord receiver where the disconnect or stick up into the receiver tube. A bit much on shipping, but fast service. kit, particularly the modifications to the trigger assembly? in order to finish the STEN MK2.5 front end it looks like I'll need: Barrel, Mag Housing, HandGuard and Barrel Nut? Anything else?Īlso, is there a chance we could see more internal pictures of the I.O. I may end up just buying a few of the new MK2 parts from Indy. I've found the MK2 kits near impossible to come by at a reasonable price, but the MK3 kits have not been too bad. I've ordered a few STEN kits, and am going to try my hand at a similar MK2 pistol, and MK3 rifle.
STEN MK II SEMI AUTO CONVERSION SERIES
I've always liked pistol caliber carbines (I've been obsessed with the MP5 series for a long time), and I really enjoy the interesting history behind each of these guns. I would like you to know that this thread alone sent me into an "old school" SMG craze.
